Day 2: Rome

Day 3: Rome
– Take an expertly guided tour of Vatican
City, where you can be on the lookout for
the colorful uniforms of the Swiss Guard,
protectors of the Vatican City.
– Visit the Sistine Chapel, where you’ll marvel at
Michelangelo’s breathtaking ceiling.
– Visit St. Peter’s Basilica.
– Take an expert-led tour of Rome.
– Visit the Colosseum, where you might almost
hear the stamping feet of the crowds gathered
for gladiatorial combat.
– Visit the Roman Forum, the former heart of
the Roman empire, where Julius Caesar gave
many of his powerful political speeches.
– Take a self-guided walking tour of Rome:
Trevi Fountain; Pantheon; Piazza Navona;
Spanish Steps.
Day 4: Rome | Pompeii
– Take a day trip to Pompeii. Once a city of
ancient prosperity, many wealthy Romans
established their homes here thousands of
years ago. When neighboring Mount Vesuvius
erupted in A.D. 79, it cloaked the Roman
resort in volcanic ash, perfectly preserving
the minutiae of daily life. The buildings and
artifacts left behind make this one of the
richest archaeological sites in the world. See
the fully excavated ruins of the town’s ancient
temples, forum, and theatre. The Stabian
Baths date back to the 2nd century, making
them one of the oldest bathhouses in the
Roman world. Learn about their ingenious
heating method—one of the earliest examples
of its kind—that brought hot water to visitors.
Day 5: Rome | Athens
– Fly to Athens and discover the ancient city
named for Athena, goddess of war and
wisdom.
Day 6: Athens
– Take an expertly guided tour of Athens:
Olympic Stadium, which hosted the first
modern Olympics in 1896.
– Visit the Acropolis: Parthenon; Temple of
Athena Nike. You’ll marvel at these sites—
the Parthenon, one of the world’s greatest
architectural feats, and the Temple of Athena
Nike, which once housed a gold statue of the
goddess, her wings clipped to prevent her from
deserting the city.
– Visit the Acropolis Museum.
– Take a walking tour of Athens: Plaka District.
– Enjoy free time in Athens or
attend a Greek evening.
Day 7: Athens
– Take a day trip to Delphi.
– Take an expert-led tour of Delphi, including the
Temple of Apollo.
– Visit the Delphi Museum, where you’ll see a
variety of artifacts dating back to 550 B.C. and
have the chance to learn more about Greece’s
mythical past.
Day 8: Mykonos island
– Enjoy free time to explore the island’s
Old Town.
Day 9: Kusadasi | Patmos island
– Included excursion to Ancient Ephesus.
– Enjoy free time to explore Patmos.
Day 10: Rhodes island
– Included excursion to the Acropolis of Lindos.
Day 11: Crete island | Santorini islands
– Explore Crete on your own.
– Included excursion to Oia Village in Santorini.
Day 12: Depart for home
