Barbados Spared by Hurricanes - Recently many islands of the
Caribbean have been devastated by Hurricanes (Irma and Maria). Many have lost
everything. We have received several inquiries from our runners from outside the region
and we would like to advise that Barbados was extremely fortunate as the island was not
in the path of either hurricane. Many citizens and companies in Barbados have begun
donating critically needed supplies to several of the affected islands. If you are able to
help there are many international agencies such as Oxfam and the Red Cross which are
accepting monetary donations online to assist in the relief effort.

Run Barbados 35th Edition - This year, the Caribbean’s oldest road running festival,
will celebrate its 35
th
year when it kicks off in December at the Bay Street Esplanade
overlooking the magnificent Carlisle Bay. Five running races and a walk spread over three
days. Over the past three decades the series has attracted runners of varying ages and
abilities from recreational to world class from all over the world. In 2016 there were over
2,000 entries, of which more than eighty percent of the competitors were visitors to the
island. The event boasts its own unique characteristics: routes through a UNESCO World
Heritage Site, Start/Finish at the picturesque Esplanade alongside a white sand beach,
steel pan music on the route, scenic coastal roads, three day schedule allowing entry to
multiple races and friendly supportive spectators.

partnered with the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Barbados. The Ganzee 5K Walk on
Sunday Dec 3rd aims to raise much-needed funds as well as increase awareness of the
critical services provided by the Foundation.
