If you're getting a new firearm this
summer, here's a handy checklist:
• Check your firearms licence is up-
to-date
• Register new firearm
• Register all your firearms within 30
days
• Keep your details up-to-date
If you have recently bought a firearm
from a retailer it is likely they will have
filled out some online forms with you in
store at the time of the sale. Please note,
this does not mean you have filled in the
Registry, and you will still need to record
all your arms items and check your details
are up to date.
Head to firearmssafetyauthority.govt.nz to register online or give us a call on 0800 844 431
Monday to Friday 8.30am-5pm, except public holidays. We're here to help.
Website updates
Thank you to the licence holders who took part in our website testing last month. We’ll be
using these results to make the website easier to use.
Thank you also to the licence holders who provided feedback about the Firearms Registry
information on our website. We have updated this section with:
• more detail about activating circumstances, and what to do when one happens.
• a clearer description of ‘major firearm parts’.
• better guidance on what to do if you share a firearm with other people.
You can find this information on our Firearms Registry section.
If you have feedback about the website, you can fill in the online feedback form.
